14 October, 2011 — Greater Shepparton City Council’s submission to the Department of Infrastructure on Phase One of the High Speed Rail Study supports the inclusion of Shepparton. The report suggested the corridor to be short-listed for the proposed Melbourne-Brisbane HSR rail route is Corridor 14a, which includes Albury-Wodonga and Wagga Wagga and possible deviations to Shepparton.  
14 October, 2011 — Greater Shepparton City Council’s Small Township Festive Grants Program is now open to towns with a population of less than 10,000 people. The program will provide funding of up to $2,500 for eight small towns to buy and install festive decorations.

9 September, 2011 — In July, the Federal Government released a report which reviews the economic viability of a high speed rail network on the east coast of Australia. The study looks at potential routes from Brisbane southwards to Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
