Western Australian-based engineering consultancy Deacon Engineers has expanded its operations to the Eastern States and established an office at the Business Centre.

The firm designs specialist mechanical and structural equipment with particular emphasis in the fields of fatigue and stress analysis including, material handling equipment, lifting and craneage and pressure vessels. They also provide services from a simple stillage to complex designs that require detailed fatigue and stress analysis with strain gauge validation.

Business Development Officer Lonnie O'Dwyer said Deacon Engineers' decision to set up business in the Business Centre was a real coup for Greater Shepparton.

"Deacon Engineers has recognised the opportunity to expand from its Perth office to better service its Eastern States' clients," she said.

Lonnie said Deacon Engineers' David Molloy-Hunt had worked on small to large scale projects for companies in Western Australia servicing the mining industry .

"He is looking forward to embarking on this exciting venture with his experience in mechanical engineering design, hands-on manufacturing, project management, 3D digital prototype design and FEA analysis.

"We look forward to supporting them in their decision to branch out here in our region.

"We are confident that more companies will see the benefits of making the move to a regional area that has a growing population, plenty of educational and other support services and yet is still only two hours from a major capital city".

David said the move to the Business Centre was already reaping rewards.

"We moved into the Business Centre a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed meeting the other tenants: there are drafts people, a web designer and a data-IT company just to name a few, so I guess it's the perfect environment to share experiences with," he said.

"Deacon Engineers currently provide services to the mining, industrial, manufacturing, water, waste-water, automotive and marine industries. We deliver solutions to our clients through a proven formula of practical experience, innovative technology and a management system certified to ISO 9001."

He said Greater Shepparton had lots to offer new businesses in addition to excellent industry support and initiatives.

"Shepparton is a very liveable city and as I am originally from the UK the mild weather in winter is a bonus," he said.
