Shepparton’s Vaughan St has reopened after a 16-week redevelopment. The new streetscape, called Vaughan Central, involved upgrades to the road underground infastructure, a new taxi rank and easier pedestrian access.

Greater Shepparton City Council funded the work, with a $700,000 contribution from Regional Development Victoria and $147,000 from Lascorp.

To celebrate the reopening, an official street party has been planned for Saturday, December 7, from 10am to 2pm. It will feature free activities, free taste testing of local produce and a cooking demonstration by Paul Mercurio.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan encouraged residents to attend the party and support the local traders.‘‘It’s fantastic to see this project come to fruition. I encourage everyone to make their way to Vaughan Central to see and experience the new look — there has been a huge change,’’ she said.
