Greater Shepparton City Council recently reviewed existing planning controls that applied to three industrial sites in Tatura.

The three sites reviewed were Tatura Abattoir, Tatura Milk Industries and Unilever.

The review focussed on balancing residential growth with support for expanding industries and better accessibility for freight and transport to help attract increased future investment in the area and create further job opportunities.

The adequacy of existing zones, overlays and schedules of the sites were investigated and the review included a commentary on the degree to which the existing Local Planning Policy Framework meets the objectives of the Tatura Milk Industries Master Plan.

The Tatura Milk Industries Master Plan site is being prepared by Council to establish a long-term framework for land-use planning and development on the site and also to outline an economic development framework to guide investment and promote economic prosperity in Tatura.

Development of a master plan will allow Council to review the site planning and initiate changes and improvements to allow sustainable development in the town and surrounds.
