Greater Shepparton Business Centre is offering the free government-funded ‘Apprentice to Business owner’ program.

Eligible tradespeople have the opportunity to receive a nationally recognised qualification in small business management and business mentoring for up to 12 months. The opportunity to participate in the Apprentice to Business Owner Program (A to B) sends a clear message about the Federal Government's commitment to small business training.  The A to B Government funded program supports eligible tradespeople who are seeking to, or have recently, established a business within two years of making an application.

The program gives eligible tradespeople the chance to complete a Certificate in IV Small Business Management at no cost. To be eligible for the program apprentices need to have completed their trade training and be looking towards establishing a new business or have already commenced their own business (with a registered ABN) within the last two years. Their trade qualification needs to be recognised on the national skills shortage list.

Training and mentoring will be delivered by NMIT and conducted in a variety of settings including in the workplace, but more importantly in your local regional area. The goal is to provide apprentices engaged in the program with the associated skills to run a successful business with a whole range of other skills such as finance, marketing, legal and risk management to operate a business.
