3 Things to stop doing on social media – especially Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Stop joining Engagement Pods and Follow Loops! Engagement pods and follow loops are where a group of business owners get together and they agree to like, tag and share each other’s content, over and over again. These people ARE NOT your people – they are FAKE followers. It ruins your algorithm (what shows up in your feed for you) and gives you false engagement. The algorithm is smart – it’ll know!
- Focussing on the follow count – seriously, STOP! Focussing on how many follow you or like your page or are connected with you – is so 2018. Wouldn’t you rather 100 engaged followers who love what you do and love you, than 10,000 who simply don’t care? And if you focus on numbers, you’ll be attracted to engagement pods and follow loops above! Bad strategy. BAD.
- Posting and ghosting – in other words, stop putting up your post and never spending time commenting back to those who have commented or spending time reaching out to your audience via their socials and so forth. You have to spend time on the platform to get the love back via your account. Put aside 15 minutes a day to comment, interact and engage with the platforms and your audience.
