Goulburn-Broken irrigators and businesses are invited to have their say about the potential financial impacts of water cutbacks, proposed by the Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), at a series of meetings to be held across the region this week.

The meetings will be run by Hydros Consulting, who have been engaged by the DSE to gauge the financial impact on businesses of cuts to irrigators' water.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Geoff Dobson encouraged businesses and irrigators to attend the meetings, which will be held in Shepparton tomorrow (February 1) and Kyabram and Numurkah on Thursday (February 3).

"The consultants are hoping to get an insight in to the likely financial implications of the MDBA's proposed water consumption reductions," Cr Dobson said.

"During the meetings they will be discussing the issues and will also ask attendees to complete a confidential questionnaire about their financial position and the effects a cut in water will have on their operations."
