The Victorian Government wants to hear from employees and businesses to ensure its proposed laws on working from home reflect the real-world experience including what’s fair, what’s practical, and what’s already working in many workplaces.
The Victorian Government is proposing new legislation that would give employees the legal right to work from home for at least two days per week, if their role can reasonably be performed remotely. This applies to both public and private sector workers.
Why This Matters
- Supports flexible work arrangements
- Reduces commuting time and costs
- Helps carers, parents, and people with disabilities
- Encourages workforce participation and productivity
- Families could save up to $5,308 annually
How to Participate
Victorians can share their views through the official consultation process on Engage Victoria:
What Feedback Is Being Sought
The consultation is asking for input on:
- What constitutes “reasonable” remote work
- Which industries and roles should be included
- Real-world experiences and challenges of working from home
