Free SES Business FloodSafe Workshops are coming to Shepparton in May. The SES, in partnership with the Federal Government’s Natural Disaster Resilience Scheme and Greater Shepparton City Council, is currently working in your community to roll out FloodSafe information developed specifically for your area.

This includes how your area could be affected, flood maps, what you can do to be properly prepared, save money and help make your business "flood- friendly"!

The SES web based business FloodSafe toolkit consists of a series of self-guided steps to help you develop a customised Business FloodSafe Plan. This plan will form part of your Business Continuity Management Plan which can minimise the impact of situations that can prevent your business operating for extended periods of time. The toolkit enables you to start, save and revisit your plan at a later time to complete, review or update it. A copy can be saved on your hard drive for future edits. The toolkit is designed to be flexible which will enable you to customise your plan to your specific business needs and allow you to add or delete as much as you need.

Floods can be very dangerous to you, your staff, storeroom, equipment and they can also be costly. Some businesses never recover after floods, so you need to take floods seriously as large floods have happened within the area and are likely to happen again.

Your business could be in an area at risk of:

  • Floodwater from river or creeks likely to enter or inundate your premises
  • Flash flooding water damage after very heavy rain or
  • Be isolated by flood waters in a surrounding area (Cut off from deliveries, customers or unable to do business because roads are closed or damage to equipment or stock!)

These free workshops provide information that will help your business to prepare for floods to reduce the risks and damage.

Sessions will be held:

When: 9.30am and 11.00am Friday 3rd May, 6.00pm Thursday 9th May 2013
Where: North Shepparton Community & Learning Centre Inc. 10-14 Parkside Drive Shepparton
RSVP: by Wednesday 1st May to Renee Scott, Greater Shepparton City Council, on (03) 5832 9896 or renee.scott@shepparton.vic.gov.au
