As part of the Government's new Protecting Work Entitlement laws, changes have been made to the Fair Work Act.
Some changes commence now with others starting later this year or next year.
From 1 July 2023, changes to the Fair Work Act came into effect for:
- Unpaid parental leave - providing greater flexibility for employees and an increase in the number of days allowed
- Protection for migrant workers - clarifies that migrant workers have the same rights and entitlements under workplace laws as other employees working in Australia
- Changes to the way enterprise agreements and workplace determinations interact
Authorised employee deduction changes will take effect on 30 December 2023. Changes to National Employment Standards and the right to superannuation will take effect next year.
