The countdown is on until the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games where Shepparton will be one of five host cities.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will help position Greater Shepparton on the global stage as an attractive place to live, work, invest, visit and play. The economic stimulus provided by the 2026 Games will greatly benefit out visitor economy services such as accommodation, hospitality and retail as we welcome an influx of athletes, officials and spectators to the region.

Shepparton will host a suite of cycling events – staging both men’s and women’s time trials for the road race, as well as the BMX Racing competition. Visit HERE for more details.

Employment agencies and group training organisations are invited to assist in finding people to help build Commonwealth Games villages and venues. Namely trades such as: concreters, bricklayers, electricians, carpenters, steel workers, plasterers, roof plumbers, plumbers, painters and landscapers.  For more information click HERE.

There is an opportunity for local business and industry in each region to register for the 2026 Goods & Services Procurement Pipeline. A successful application will boost the local economy, the businesses involved and provide a spotlight on the capabilities of regional industries.

The pipeline represents major opportunities for businesses big and small, all pitching together to deliver the biggest event regional Victoria has ever seen. In total, more than 1,200 future procurement activities have been identified by Games organisers, ranging from transport and catering to gold medals and golf balls. To deliver the regional Games, organisers are calling on the expertise of Victoria’s regional industries.

Some of the procurement that business in Greater Shepparton should look out for in the near future include:

  • Sport - including marshals, anti-doping testing, sporting equipment etc
  • Marketing, Communications and Events - including mascot, merchandising, licensing of the brand etc
  • Technology and Broadcasting – including telecommunications, hardware, cabling to and from venues etc and
  • Facilities and transport – including traffic management, security, bus drivers, waste management etc.
