Greater Shepparton City Council’s Access and Inclusion Grant program is currently open with applications closing on 1 September 2023 at 5pm.

The grant delivers funding to support local businesses, not for profit organisations and community groups to improve access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

The objectives of the grant are to:

  • Support business owners, community organisations and not for profit groups to make their premises more accessible for people with disabilities.
  • Improve access to businesses and community buildings for people with disabilities.
  • Promote Greater Shepparton as an accessible and attractive place to work, live, visit for people with disabilities.
  • Attract new investment opportunities and support business growth and promotion accessible tourism.
  • Encourage business owners, community groups, and not for profit groups to be more accessible for people with a disability and their families.

There are two funding streams available:

  1. Non-Capital - providing funding for access and inclusion improvements of a non-structural nature.  Examples of projects include developing an accessible website or converting menus and brochures to accessible formats such as Easy English or braille.  Successful applications can receive up to $1,000 on a 1:1 matching basis.
  2. Capital - providing renovation funding to improve disability access.  This can include the widening of doorframes, installation of ramps or installing/upgrading an accessible bathroom.  Successful applications can receive up to $10,000 on a 4:1 matching basis.
