Hume Workforce Development Committee (HWDC) is calling on all businesses within the Hume Region to take part in a survey and to attend a free seminar to help shape a strategy that will retain and attract labour.

The survey is currently open.

A free workshop to present the survey results and to hold further discussions about  the content of the strategy will be held on 18 April.

The What is Workforce Planning? workshop will be hosted by Julie Sloan founding director of Workforce Planning Australia. Julie is widely regarded as the pre-eminent leader in workforce planning in Australia and internationally.

Lack of a suitably qualified workforce has been identified as a major impediment to growth in the Hume Region which includes Greater Shepparton.

This initiative is auspiced by the (HWDC) that was established some six months ago with representation from a wide range of Local, State & Federal Government, industry organisations and training providers.

Greater Shepparton City Council's Manager Economic Development Geraldine Christou is urging business owners to take part in the five minute survey.

"The committee has worked tirelessly to identify the skill shortages of future regional growth. Stakeholder contributions are important to help the committee to accurately represent and address the needs of businesses and their labour needs."

Following the workshop, a strategy will be developed to position the Region well to advance its workforce initiatives, but the quality and quantum of data from business is the platform upon which the aggregated data will be built.
