Supporting The Pipeline Of New Water Leaders

Posted on 18 May, 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is opening up a new round of grants to support professional development and innovation in the water sector.

Applications for the Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants open May 1 and aim to support the next generation of leaders in water management across Victoria.

The Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants are a $120,000 investment in innovation, keeping the water management leadership highly skilled and supporting a diverse workforce.

Over the next four years, these grants will be awarded annually for professional development focused on innovation, and supporting Aboriginal Victorians and women involved in catchment management. These are all priority areas within the government’s water plan, Water for Victoria.

The grants also reinforce the Government’s work to promote diversity in leadership roles across Victoria.

A further $90,000 is also being spent to support inclusivity and diversity in the water sector. The inaugural Women in Leadership Program has already had a number of participants become Fellows of the prestigious Peter Cullen Trust.

Nominations for the Our Catchments Our Communities Leadership Development Grants  close 24 May, 2017. For more information, go to www.delwp.vic.gov.au/water

These grants and programs are funded through the $222 million investment into catchment and waterway health through the government's water plan Water for Victoria.

The grant recipients will be announced at the inaugural State Catchment Summit on 29 June 2017.
