Greater Shepparton City Coucnil has welcomed the State Government's announcment that it will support the Skilled Migration Program in Victoria for a further 12 months.

The Regional Migration Program is part of the State Government's Skilled Migration Strategy which aims to help employers attract and retain the skilled staff to fulfil skill shortages in the region that cannot be satisfied by the existing workforce.

The program provides an access point for employers to obtain information on how to go about employing a skilled migrant who holds an Australian recognised qualification and has the experience to benefit their business.

The program has been running in Shepparton since 2008 and has assisted more than 100 businesses with successful employer sponsorship.

Regional skill shortages include:

  • Nurses
  • Doctors
  • Other allied health professionals
  • Dairy industry
  • Fruit growing industry
  • Agricultural technicians
  • Automotive mechanics
  • Chefs
  • Engineers

The Skilled Migration Coordinator is located at Council's Welsford Street Shepparton and is available by appointment to discuss your employer sponsorship queries and provide information about the benefits of the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme.
