Rural Skills Connect is aimed at providing flexible employment and training guidance for dairy farmers, their family members or employees and affected dairy farm service providers, to support them as the dairy industry recovers.

Rural Skills Connect, an initiative funded through the State Government’s Dairy Assistance Program, has been rolled out in the regions with the recent appointment of three Program Managers.

The Rural Skills Connect team is available to assist individuals across the dairy industry including dairy supply chain businesses with support to:

  • undertake a skills audit and work with the training sector to facilitate appropriate training opportunities which will lead to employment,
  • broker new employment opportunities,
  • assist farmers to supplement farm business income with off-farm income,
  • help farmers to support their workers who may have lost their job or had reduced hours, and
  • increase the accredited skills base across the industry.
