Visitors to the region now have a valuable free resource that will help them design their holiday around activities that appeal to them: the Goulburn River Valley – Holiday Planner.

The planner was produced by Goulburn River Valley Tourism, a partnership between four local councils - Mitchell, Murrindindi, Strathbogie and Greater Shepparton - and the tourism industry.

The aim of the partnership is to promote and grow the economic benefits of tourism in the region. The Goulburn River Valley – Holiday Planner, combined with a powerful online component, promotes the Goulburn River Valley as the number one short-stay and touring destination in regional Victoria. The group believes its united approach will help the Goulburn River Valley region achieve a level of regional branding and identity to challenge that of other of other popular tourism destinations, such as the Mornington Peninsula, Great Ocean Road, Goldfields and The Grampians.

The Planner features suggested touring options in categories that support the region’s strengths:

  • Natural attractions
  • Food and Wine
  • History and heritage
  • Fishing
  • Water sports and activities
  • Farm gate produce
  • The army and military experience
  • Arts and culture
  • Golf

The first section of the planner features suggested tours including editorial and maps that pinpoint specific business locations to help visitors self navigate the region. The second half is categorised into townships and what each has to offer. This includes accommodation, dining and attractions.
