A seminar designed to uncover some of the complexities of the export documentation process will be presented by Council’s Greater Shepparton Exporters Network in association with the Central Victorian Exporters Network and TWL Logistics at the Greater Shepparton Business Centre next week.

Greater Shepparton Exporters Network, developed by Greater Shepparton City Council in early 2009, is a network for businesses people interested in exporting and provides opportunities for businesses to learn about export opportunities and requirements.

Council's Business Centre Coordinator Geoff Hay said that this seminar is designed to further assist local businesses who are currently, or potentially, entering international markets.

"We will explore the importance of having the correct export documentation to ensure the customer can take delivery of the consignment quickly and with minimal fuss," Mr Hay said.

"There are a number of potential issues that can arise if you don't have the correct documentation and some basic understanding will ensure these issues are avoided.

"As with any form of selling, it is important that customers receive their product in a timely manner, but as a business it is arguably more important that you get paid for those goods in an equally timely manner - This is what this session is all about."

Other specific documents that will be examined include shipping documentation, packing documentation, shippers instructions and documents for payment.
The session will provide participants a good understanding of what each of these documents are, why they are important and how they are used to ensure a successful, trouble free export transaction.
Presentation will be made by Wilhelmina Ligthart, from TWL Logistics, sharing over 35 years of international trade experience and who currently works closely with exporters throughout Regional Victoria.

The free session will be held on Wednesday 18 August from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at the Greater Shepparton Business Centre, 70 New Dookie Road, Shepparton.

Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting the Business Centre on

Greater Shepparton Business Centre is funded and operated by Greater Shepparton City Council.
