Greater Shepparton’s business community will be encouraged to share their ideas to make Greater Shepparton even greater at a special business breakfast on Tuesday 24 July.

The breakfast is part of the Together We’re Making a Greater Shepparton project with Council staff attending hundreds of community events and activities to gather ideas for the 2013 to 2017 Council Plan.

The Council Plan is Greater Shepparton’s key strategic document which drives the core focus for service delivery and priorities.

The ideas will be collated and presented to the new Council after the October elections with further discussions with the community in early 2013 when a draft Council Plan will be prepared.

“This is one of the biggest community engagement projects ever hosted by Greater Shepparton City Council and it is really encouraging to see the community getting behind and taking advantage of the opportunity to share their ideas,” Greater Shepparton CEO Gavin Cator said.

“In most cases staff are attending existing community events and meetings, but feedback from the business community suggested it would be good to provide an opportunity for businesses from across the municipality to come together for a special session to explore their ideas.

“I encourage the business community to get behind this initiative and take advantage of the opportunity to share their ideas to help shape Council’s primary strategic document for 2013 to 2017.”

The breakfast will be held from 7am to 8.30am on Tuesday 24 July at the Covers Restaurant, GoTAFE Shepparton Campus, 152 to 200 Fryers Street, Shepparton.
