Greater Shepparton Business Centre has received a nomination for the Regional Achievement and Community Awards.

The aim of the awards is to identify, recognise and pay tribute to the achievements of individuals, organisations and communities.

The Greater Shepparton Business Centre was nominated in the category of Regional Development Victoria Business Achievement Award and is hoping to be a finalist.

Business Development Officer Lonnie O'Dwyer said she was thrilled to hear that their nomination had been received.

"We are always encouraging our local business community to nominate for awards and given the positive feedback and support that we receive from our business community, we thought it important to take part and enter our submission," Ms O'Dwyer said.

"A lot of the recognition should go to our previous manager Geoff Hay and Administration Officer Jo Rathjen, for all their hard work.

"Part of the submission entry consisted of feedback received by the centre from clients praising Geoff and Jo for their service.

"It is also pleasing to hear that more than 20 other businesses in the Shepparton region were nominated. It's a reflection of the can do attitude of the business community that we have in our region."

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Saturday 15 October 2011 in Ballarat.
