The Back to Work scheme encourages and supports employment growth by providing financial assistance to employers who hire eligible unemployed or retrenched workers.

The Victorian Government recently announced significant improvements to the Back to Work scheme and we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Back to Work scheme encourages and supports employment growth by providing financial assistance to employers who hire eligible unemployed or retrenched workers.

Payments have been increased from $750 to $2000, and from $5000 to $12000, (with a part-time hire attracting 75 per cent of these amounts), depending on the category of employee hired.

Other changes broaden the eligibility criteria, increasing the pool of workers available for employers to hire under the scheme, and provide increased levels of support for training for workers employed under the scheme.

These improvements follow VECCI’s calls for the government to provide employers with greater incentive to participate in the scheme and we applaud the government for these changes.

Details of the scheme and how to apply are available on the Back to Work website. Applications are now open and can be made through a simple 15-minute online claim process. We strongly encourage you to see how this can benefit your business.
